A tropical and European island, connected to the world

Route des Tamarins, voie express sur l’ouest de l’île

A small volcanic island under the sun of the Indian Ocean, Reunion is located 10,000 km from the old continent. It is classified as an outermost region (RUP), and as such has significant financial resources to make up for this disadvantage.

Far away but so close!

Close in terms of facilities, administration and services, Reunion offers the best amenities by metropolitan standards: health (various hospitals including a university hospital), transport (roads, dual carriageways and high-quality public transport), administrative services, shopping centres, sports and leisure facilities, cultural life, etc.

The world is Reunion

Shaped over several centuries by the successive influx of populations (Europe, Africa, Asia...), Reunion Island is multicultural.

Its population is young: one in two Réunionese is under 30 years of age.

The peaceful cohabitation of all religions is quoted as an example in a turbulent world. Churches, mosques and Hindu temples are sometimes on the same street. The island has developed a real culture of "living well together".

Reunion's culture (its music, its cuisine, etc.) is also a perfect illustration of its history: rich and mixed.

A life-size volcanic land

Cratère Dolomieu, Piton de la Fournaise

Its volcano is one of the most active in the world. Its eruptions are naturally contained within a safe boundary, but this is not the only asset of an island that offers a wealth of delights.

Besides the shark disaster that recently affected it, this island of 2,500 km² has around 30 km of lagoon allowing safe swimming and water sports.

But the essence of its charms lies in its "Pitons, Cirques and Remparts", classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hiking, canyoning, paragliding, mountain biking, kite-surfing... so many professionally supervised activities can be enjoyed in the heart of breathtaking landscapes and in particular in a natural park which covers 40% of the territory, topped by the Piton des Neiges at over 3,000 m. Diving, jogging, tennis, golf and horse riding complete the offer.

In Réunion, outdoor activities are available 365 days a year!
